"Fuel Level Very Low" Message "Check Fuel Gage" Message
Wiring Diagram:
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The IPC monitors the fuel level sender in the fuel tank, divides this voltage by the Ignition 1 reference voltage (ID50), and looks up the corresponding fuel level in a table to determine actual fuel level (ID4O). This value is then filtered (to account for slosh and minor variations) and displayed on the IPC. A control feature is included which allows the fuel display to bypass the filtering feature if there is a rapid increase in fuel level (i.e. vehicle is being refueled).
Fuel Level Very Low:
When the filtered fuel level reaches 1 gallons or less the IPC will display the 'FUEL LEVEL VERY LOW' message on the DIC. This message may be disabled in the EEPROM. If message does not display with fuel level below 1 gallon, refer to 'NO LOW FUEL WARNING'.
Check Fuel Gage:
If the vehicle is operating in 'DISPLAY OFF' mode and the fuel level falls below 4 gallons, all displays will return to active mode and the DIC will display 'CHECK FUEL GAGE'. This message will only appear if the vehicle is operating in 'DISPLAY OFF' mode.
TEST CONDITION(S)
1. Ignition 1 voltage is present.
FAILURE CONDITION(S)
1. Calculated fuel level less than 1.0 gallon (Fuel Level Very Low).
2. Calculated fuel level less than 4.0 gallons (Check Fuel Gage) and display off mode active.
ACTION TAKEN
1. Display the 'FUEL LEVEL VERY LOW' or 'CHECK FUEL GAGE' message on the IPC Driver Information Center
DIAGNOSIS
Read notes above to provide good understanding of conditions necessary for message display. Refer to 'FUEL GAGE INOPERATIVE / IMPROPER' for system diagnosis. Fuel Gauge Inoperative or Inaccurate
