Manual Gear Range Selection

Upshifts in manual gear ranges are controlled by shift solenoids. Perform the following test by accelerating at 10 - 15° of TPS.

1. To check manual 3rd (D3), with vehicle stopped, shift to D3 and accelerate. Observe 1-2 shift and 2-3 shift.

2. To check manual 2nd (D2), with vehicle stopped, shift to D2 and accelerate. Observe 1-2 shift, then accelerate to 35 mph and observe 2-3 shift does not occur and TCC does not apply.

3. To check manual 1st (D1), with vehicle stopped, shift to D1 and accelerate to 20 mph. Observe.no upshifts occur and TCC does not apply.

4. To check reverse (R), with vehicle stopped, shift to R and slowly accelerate. Observe solenoid A is On-DEFOG is On.
