Spark Plug: Service and Repair

CAUTION
Coated spark plugs. If you smoke while handling coated spark plugs wear gloves to prevent transfer of the coating to cigarettes and subsequent burning of the coating. Wash hands after installing spark plugs.

Remove or Disconnect
1. Spark plug wires at spark plugs.

Important
^ Use care when removing spark plug boots from spark plugs. Twist the boot 1/2 turn before removing and then PULL ON THE BOOT ONLY to remove it. DO NOT PULL ON THE WIRE as this may damage the spark plug wire.

2. Spark plug from cylinder head.

Install or Connect
1. Spark plug into cylinder head. Make sure spark plug is properly gapped to 0.060 inch before installation.

Tighten
^ Spark plugs to 15 Nm (11 lb. ft.).
