P061
DTC PO61:
Cruise Control Circuit:
DESCRIPTION
Code P061 will set if the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) output PO07 is commanding the vent solenoid "OFF" and the feedback is indicating that it is "ON" or if the PCM is commanding the vent solenoid "ON" and the feedback is indicating that it is "OFF" for 0.5 second.
TEST CONDITIONS
Test continuously.
FAILURE CONDITIONS
1. Cruise vent solenoid commanded "OFF" and solenoid feedback indicating the solenoid is "ON" for 0.5 second.
2. Cruise vent solenoid commanded "ON" and solenoid feedback indicating the solenoid is "OFF" for 0.5 second.
ACTION TAKEN
PCM disables cruise control.
NOTES ON FAULT TREE
1. Checking if the cruise control servo is bad or if the control circuitry is bad. The frequency should cycle between zero and a non-zero number. If the Digital Volt Ohm Meter (DVOM) stays at zero, it must be a circuit fault or the PCM.
2. Checking for a short to voltage on CKT 403.
3. Checking for an open in CKT 451.
4. Checking the PCM's ability to control the cruise control servo. Voltage should cycle between 0 and 12 volts. If it does not, check CKT 403 for an open.
NOTES ON INTERMITTENTS
If an intermittent Code P061 is being set, manipulate the related wiring while in the output function PO07 and listen for the solenoid to cycle (or stop cycling). This will have to be done slowly as this function cycles the solenoid "ON" and "OFF" every 3 seconds.
