P070

DTC P070:

IAT, MAP And TPS Circuits:

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
This diagnostic test monitors Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) and Throttle Position (TP) sensor. Engine operation requires that any large change in TP sensor must be followed by a change in manifold pressure. If the MAP remains constant and there is a large change in TP sensor, Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Code P070 will set.

TEST CONDITIONS
1. Codes P031, P032 and P034 not set.
2. Throttle angle changes more than 5 degrees in 12.5 milliseconds (0.0125 second).
3. MAP greater than 22 kPa.
4. MAP not within 12 kPa of atmospheric pressure (BARO).
5. Engine running.
6. Low coolant level and engine overheat not present.
7. Traction control not active.
8. Key "ON" for at least 2 seconds.

FAILURE CONDITIONS
MAP change of 3 kPa or less in 0.21 second following a 5 degree or greater change in throttle angle.

ACTION TAKEN
None.

NOTES ON FAULT TREE
1. Checking Code P070 snapshot value is used to determine if an intermittent low voltage or an intermittent high voltage caused the code to set. An intermittent low voltage can be caused by an open or short to ground on CKT 417 or by an open in CKT 474 or the TP sensor itself. An intermittent high voltage can be caused by an open in CKT 808 or a short to voltage on CKT 417.
