S051
CODE S051 RSS CONTROL MODULE CALIBRATION FAULTTEST CONDITIONS:
The RSS control module performs checks of all internal calibration data memory spaces.
FAULT CONDITIONS:
If any of several calibration areas contains suspect data, a code is set.
ACTION TAKEN:
Depending upon which internal functions are affected by suspect calibration data, the RSS control module will take one of three sets of actions. If the fault condition allows continued operation, the system will either assume ELC default trim values or result in degraded steering sensor operation. Otherwise, the dampers are deenergized and the ELC and SSS functions are disabled. In either case, the RSS control module will set the fault code and turn on the "SERVICE RIDE CONTROL" message.
DESCRIPTION:
The RSS control module performs checks of internal calibration data. If a fault condition is detected, the RSS control module will set the fault code and turn on the "SERVICE RIDE CONTROL" message. Additionally, depending upon the cause of the internal fault, the system will either disable all dampers or enter a degraded mode. Recovery from any controller fault condition is attempted only after ignition is cycled off and on.
NOTES ON FAULT TREE:
[1] After recalibrating the RSS control module using the Tech-1, always perform the steering sensor trim position and trim height adjustment procedures.
[2] Service replacement control modules will have a code S051 stored in memory when shipped. After replacement of a control module, perform the RSS control module calibration procedure and trim height adjustment procedure.
IMPORTANT:
^ WHEN ALL DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIRS ARE COMPLETE, CLEAR CODES AND VERIFY OPERATION.
