P067
Diagnostic Trouble Code P067:
Cruise Control Circuit:
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
When the cruise control "ON/OFF" switch is "ON," system voltage is available at one side of the normally open contacts on the SET/COAST and RESUME/ACCEL switches at key "ON." If the SET/COAST or the RESUME/ACCEL switches were stuck or their signal wires to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) were shorted to voltage, the vehicle could begin cruise operation. To prevent this, Code P067 will set and disable cruise control if signal voltage from the SET/COAST (CKT 84) or RESUME/ACCEL (CKT 87) is HI continuously for 10 minutes. Cruise control will be disabled until the PCM sees a LO on both of these signals.
TEST CONDITIONS
Test continuously.
FAILURE CONDITION
1. SET/COAST input to the PCM is HI for 10 minutes.
OR
2. RESUME/ACCEL input to the PCM is HI for 10 minutes.
ACTION TAKEN
PCM disables cruise control.
NOTES ON FAULT TREE
1. Checking if PI83 (SET/COAST) and PI84 (RESUME/ACCEL) will cycle from "LO" to "HI" to "LO." If the inputs remain "HI," there is a short to voltage in the system.
2. Checking if the SET/COAST and/or RESUME/ACCEL switches are shorted to voltage.
3. Checking if CKT 84 shorted to voltage.
4. Checking if CKT 87 shorted to voltage.
