Codes 41. 45. 51. & 55: RF, LF, RR, & LR Inlet Valve Solenoid Fault:
Circuit Description:
The wheel valve solenoid circuits are supplied with battery power when the ignition is in the "RUN" position. The EBTCM controls the valve functions by grounding the circuit when necessary.
DTC Will Set When:
- The EBTCM senses a discrepancy such as an open, short to ground or voltage internal to the EBTCM and BPMV.
- There is poor connection in the circuit internal to the EBTCM and BPMV.
- There is a malfunctioning solenoid valve.
Action Taken:
The valve relay will turn "OFF," the "ANTI-LOCK" and "TRACTION CONTROL" lamps will come "ON." ABS and TCS are disabled.
DTC Chart Test Description:
Number(s) below refer to circled number(s) on the diagnostic chart.
1. Checks if DTC 71 was set concurrently with valve DTC.
2. Checks condition of EBTCM to BPMV connector, and for presence of brake fluid.
3. Checks the integrity of the affected valve solenoid circuitry internal to the BPMV, and the valve solenoid coil.
4. Checks for solenoid circuit short to ground (BPMV case).
5. Uses the Tech 1 to exercise the affected valve solenoid and check it for proper operation.
6. Checks for continued DTC setting after validating that the circuitry and the solenoid valve is good. If DTC resets, the EBTCM is likely malfunctioning.
Diagnostic Aids:
It is very important that a thorough inspection of the wiring and connectors be performed. Failure to carefully and fully inspect wiring and connectors may result in misdiagnosis, causing part replacement with reappearance of the malfunction.
