Trunk / Liftgate Switch: Description and Operation

REAR COMPARTMENT LID RELEASE
B+ is applied to the rear compartment lid release relay at all times. When the rear compartment lid release switch pressed and the transmission control selector switch is in PARK Position, the trunk lid release relay will be energized. When the trunk lid release relay is activated, B+ is supplied to the rear compartment lid lock release actuator. When the rear compartment lid lock release actuator is activated, the rear compartment lid will open.

REAR COMPARTMENT LID LATCH RELEASE
The following components allow the rear compartment lid latch release actuator to unlatch the rear compartment lid:
^ The keyless remote entry transmitter.
^ The rear compartment lid release button located in the center dash.
^ The manual rear compartment lid release handle.

The rear compartment lid latch release consists of the following components:
^ The release actuator.
^ An electrical harness.
^ A release button located in the center dash. The body harness routes from the driver side area to the rear compartment lid harness. The body harness connects to the release actuator and connects to the manual release handle. When the button is pressed the following actions occur:
^ The release actuator motor energizes.
^ The release actuator lever pushes forward.
^ The forward motion of the release actuator lever unlatches the rear compartment lid latch.
