Engine Coolant Temperature Warning (Medium Chime)

The powertrain control module (PCM) interprets the engine coolant temperature through the engine coolant temperature sensor (ECT). When the PCM detects that the engine coolant temperature is above approximately 131 °C (270 °F), the PCM sends a C1ass 2 serial data line message.

The IPC receives this message and displays the STOP ENGINE-ENGINE OVERHEATED message on the driver message center. The PC sends a Class 2 serial data line message requesting that the IRC turn ON the medium chime.
