Seat Belt Systems: Description and Operation

The seat belt retractor system automatically retracts the driver's and passenger's seat belts. When the car is stopped and the driver's seat belt is unbuckled, the LH seat belt retracts, when the LH door is opened. The passenger's seat belt retracts in the same way when the RH door is opened. Battery positive voltage (B+) is applied to each seat belt retractor solenoid at all times through the rear compartment fuse block BATT Fuse via CKT 1840 (ORN). When a door is opened, the respective front door jamb switch closes, applying ground to the appropriate seat belt retractor solenoid. When a seat belt retractor solenoid receives power and ground, it retracts the seat belt.
