51. Cylinder Head Installation

1. On the driver's side of the engine, install the new cylinder head gasket with OBEN/TOP imprint toward the front of the engine.





2. On the passenger side of the engine, install the new cylinder head gasket with the OBEN/TOP imprint toward the rear of the engine.
3. Install the cylinder head to the engine block.

Important: Use new cylinder head bolts. The required tightening method stretches the bolts, therefore the cylinder head bolts are not reusable.





4. Install the new cylinder head bolts.
Tighten the cylinder head bolts (1 thru 8), using the tightening sequence shown.
Tighten the cylinder head bolts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.) on the first pass, 90 degrees on the second pass, 90 degrees on the third pass, 90 degrees on the fourth pass and 15 degrees on the fifth pass.
