Tire Monitor System - Tire Pressure Message Displayed

Bulletin No.: 04-03-16-001

Date: March 30, 2004

TECHNICAL

Subject:
Tire Pressure Message Displayed on DIC (Temporary Fix - Relearn Sensor)

Models:
2000-2004 Cadillac DeVille, Seville

Condition

Some customers may comment on a Tire Pressure Message being displayed through the DIC.

Correction

Verify the system is operating normally using the diagnostic procedures found in SI. If it is determined no repairs are required, the sensor should be reset by performing a sensor relearn procedure. The following information should be noted on the repair order:

^ What message was displayed on the DIC, SERVICE TIRE MONITOR or CHECK TIRE PRESSURE?

^ When did the message appear? (i.e. a.m., afternoon, evening, how long did vehicle sit, in what area was the vehicle, etc.)

^ What was the ambient temperature at the time the message appeared?

^ List any DTCs noted during tire pressure monitor diagnostic system verification.

^ If DTCs were found, were they stored as "current and history" or "history only"?

^ What were the individual tire pressures displayed on the DIC, Tech 2(R) and hand held gauge (electronic preferred), before and after the learn procedure?

The repair orders will be requested through the WPC for review by Engineering.

This bulletin will be revised after Engineering analysis of the repair orders and a cause and permanent correction has been determined.
