Electric Park Lock Module - Disassemble

Disassembly Procedure

- Tools Required
- J42640 Steering Column Anti-Rotation Pin

1. Remove the lock cylinder set. Refer to Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement - On Vehicle.
2. Place the steering column in the center position.





3. Use a small screwdriver to pull the filler plug out of the bottom of the lower shroud.





4. Insert the small screwdriver into the filler plug hole in the bottom of the lower shroud.
5. Use the screwdriver to push up on the manual override of the electric park lock (1).
6. Turn the key to the lock position. Remove the key.





7. Remove the necessary wire straps from the wire harness assembly.
8. Disconnect the power tilt and telescope toggle switch assembly connector from the telescope module at the base of the column





9. Gently pry the steering column closeout shroud (1) from the lower shroud (2).
10. Remove the 2 pan head tapping screws (4) from the lower shroud (2).
11. Remove the lower shroud (2) with the power tilt and telescope toggle switch assembly (3) still attached to the shroud.
12. If necessary, pop the power tilt and telescope toggle switch assembly (3) out from the lower shroud (2).





13. Remove 1 pan head tapping screw (2) from the upper shroud (1).
14. Remove the upper shroud (1) with the steering column closeout shroud (3) still attached.





15. If necessary, remove the steering column closeout shroud from the upper shroud.





16. Remove the black connector (2) from the electric park lock (1).
17. Remove the tapping screw (3) from the electric park lock (1) mounting hole and the ignition key alarm switch assembly.
18. Pry the electric park lock (1) off of the lock module assembly.
