Cruise Control Switch: Adjustments

IMPORTANT: Do not depress the brake pedal during the adjustment procedure.

NOTE: Proper stoplamp switch adjustment is essential. Improper stoplamp switch adjustment could cause brake drag and excessive brake lining wear.

1. Insert the cruise release switch (2) into the retainer until the cruise release switch is seated against the brake pedal arm.
2. Twist the switch to lock the switch into position.

MEASURE
Measure the distance from the end of the barrel on the switch to the pedal arm. Clearance must be 1.5 mm to 1.7 mm (1/16 in). If the distance from the end of the barrel on the switch to the pedal arm is insufficient, perform Steps 1 and 2 again.

MEASURE
The following pedal travel statement can be used to check for proper adjustment of the release switches.
^ The release switch assemblies must be closed at 3.5 to 12.5 mm (1/8 to 1/2 in) brake pedal travel, measured at the centerline of the brake pedal assembly.
^ Nominal actuation of the release assembly contacts is approximately 4.5 mm (3/16 in).
