Steering Column Control Module

Removal Procedure





1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in Air Bags and Seat Belts.
2. Remove the knee bolster.
3. Remove the four retaining fasteners at the bottom of the steering column.
4. Remove the two upper retaining fasteners from the steering column to instrument panel.
5. Lower the steering column.





6. Disconnect the wiring harness to the steering column module (1). Loosen the retaining screw to the steering column module (1) and slide out of retaining bracket.

Installation Procedure

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





1. Install the steering column module (1) into the bracket and tighten retaining screw.
- Tighten steering column module retaining screw to 2 Nm (15 inch lbs.).
2. Connect steering column module wiring harness.
3. Position the steering column into place.
4. Install the fasteners securing the upper steering column to the instrument panel.
- Tighten the nuts to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).





5. Install the fasteners securing the lower steering column to the instrument panel.
- Tighten the nuts to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).
6. Install the knee bolster.
7. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in Air Bags and Seat Belts.
