Accumulator HVAC: Service and Repair

[1][2]ACCUMULATOR REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

TOOLS REQUIRED
J 39500-B A/C Refrigerant Recovery, Recycling and Recharging System




1. Recover the refrigerant from the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging. Service and Repair
2. Remove the suction hose retainer from the [1][2]accumulator.




3. Remove the suction hose from the [1][2]accumulator.




4. Remove the evaporator hose assembly from the [1][2]accumulator.




5. Disconnect the [1][2]accumulator retainer.
6. Remove the [1][2]accumulator.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

TOOLS REQUIRED
J 39400-A Electronic Halogen Leak Detector




1. Install the [1][2]accumulator.
2. Connect the [1][2]accumulator retainer.




3. Install the evaporator hose assembly to the [1][2]accumulator.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.Vehicle Damage Warnings

4. Install the evaporator hose assembly retaining nut.

Tighten
Tighten the evaporator hose assembly to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).




5. Install the suction hose to the [1][2]accumulator.




6. Install the suction hose retaining nut.
7. Tighten the retaining nut.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.Vehicle Damage Warnings

Tighten
Tighten the suction hose retaining nut to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

8. Recharge the refrigerant system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.Service and Repair
9. Leak test the A/C system. Refer to Leak Testing.Leak Testing - HVAC System - Automatic
