Receiver Replacement - Digital Radio (U2K)

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Remove the left rear compartment trim panel.
2. Disengage the electrical connector Connection Position Assurance (CPA).
3. Disconnect the electrical connector (1) from the digital radio receiver.
4. Disconnect the antenna connector (3).
5. Loosen the bolts (2).




6. Slide the receiver and the bracket (1) up and out of the keyhole slots in the rear reinforcement panel.
7. Remove the receiver and the bracket (1) from the vehicle.




8. Remove the nuts (1) securing the receiver bracket to the digital radio receiver.
9. Remove the digital radio receiver from the receiver bracket.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the digital radio receiver to the receiver bracket.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the nuts (1) to secure the receiver to the bracket.

Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 7 N.m (62 lb in).




3. If removed, install the mounting bolts to the bracket 3 to 4 threads.
4. Align the receiver and bracket assembly (1) to the keyhole slots in the rear reinforcement, with the electrical connection end towards the rear compartment floor.




5. Install the receiver and the bracket to the keyhole slots and slide the receiver and the bracket down.

Tighten
Tighten the bolts (2) to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

6. Connect the electrical connector (1).
7. Engage the electrical connector CPA.
8. Connect the antenna connector (3).
9. Install the left rear compartment trim panel.

IMPORTANT: After replacement of an XM Radio receiver, call XM Radio to deactivate the receiver that has been removed from the vehicle and activate the new XM Radio receiver.

The vehicle must be parked in view of a satellite within 24 hours after an activation call.

10. Turn the radio on, tune to the XM channel 0, and record the electronic serial number (ESN) from the radio.
The ESN will be needed for activation of the new receiver.
11. Call XM Radio at 1-800-852-XMXM (9696) to deactivate the faulty receiver and activate the new receiver.
12. Park the vehicle outside in an area with an unobstructed view of the southern sky.
13. Leave the vehicle outside with the ignition switch in the ACC (accessory) position and the radio on for 30 minutes to activate XM service.
14. Once activated the radio will receive the remaining XM Radio channels.
