Lumbar Switch Replacement - Front

Tools Required

J 38778 Door Trim Pad Clip Remover


Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer toSIR Caution in Cautions and Notices.

1. Adjust the front seat to the up position until maximum travel is reached.
Angle the front of the seat cushion up in order to access the seat cushion fasteners.




2. Remove the fasteners retaining the cushion to the seat adjuster.
3. Disconnect the front heated seat cushion electrical connectors and the lumbar air lines, if equipped.




4. Remove the knobs from the switch.
5. Remove the 2 push pins from the inside of the switch trim plate, on the bottom edge of the trim plate.
6. Release the tabs at the bottom of the switch plate.




7. Remove the switch trim plate.
8. Remove the J channels from the seat cushion.
9. Peel the front seat cushion cover up in order to expose the switch.




10. Using theJ 38778 , remove the switch bracket retainers.




11. Release the locking tabs on the switch bracket, and slide the seat switch from the seat bottom.
12. Disconnect the electrical connector from the switch.




13. Remove the lumbar switch from the seat switch mounting bracket.



Installation Procedure





1. Install the lumbar switch into the switch mounting bracket.
2. Connect the electrical connectors to the seat switches.
3. Slide the seat switch and bracket assembly onto the seat bottom.




4. Install the seat switch bracket retainers into the seat bottom.
5. Pull the seat cover back down over the switch and align holes in the cover to the switch assembly.
6. Install the seat cover J channels.




7. Install the seat switch trim plate.




8. Install the knobs to the switches.




9. Align the front seat cushion and frame assembly with the seat adjuster.
10. Connect the front heated seat cushion electrical connectors and the lumbar air lines, if equipped.
11. Engage the rear of the seat cushion frame to the seat adjuster, push down on the front of the cushion in order to engage the studs in the seat adjuster.

Notice: Refer toFastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

12. Install the seat cushion fasteners.

Tighten the fasteners to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
