Electric Park Lock Module - Disassemble -Off Vehicle

Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in Service Precautions.





1. Disable the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil.
2. Remove the steering wheel from the column.
3. Remove the steering column from the vehicle.
4. Inspect the steering column for accident damage.
5. Remove the lock cylinder set.
6. Place the steering column in the center position.
7. Use a small screwdriver to pull the filler plug out of the bottom of the lower trim cover.





8. Insert the small screwdriver into the filler plug hole in the bottom of the lower trim cover.
9. Use the screwdriver to push up on the manual override of the electric park lock (1).
10. Turn the key to the lock position. Remove the key.





11. Remove the necessary wire straps from the wire harness assembly.
12. Disconnect the power tilt and telescope toggle switch assembly connector from the telescope module at the base of the column.





13. Gently pry the steering column closeout trim cover (1) from the lower trim cover (2).
14. Remove the 2 pan head tapping screws (4) from the lower trim cover (2).
15. Remove the lower trim cover (2) with the power tilt and telescope toggle switch assembly (3) still attached to the trim cover.
16. If necessary, pop the power tilt and telescope toggle switch assembly (3) out from the lower trim cover (2).





17. Remove 1 pan head tapping screw (2) from the.: upper trim cover (1).
18. Remove the upper trim cover (1) with the steering column closeout trim cover (3) still attached.





19. If necessary, remove the steering column closeout trim cover from the upper trim cover.





20. Remove the black connector (2) from the electric park lock (1).
21. Remove the tapping screw (3) from the electric park lock (1) mounting hole and the ignition key alarm switch assembly.
22. Pry the electric park lock (1) off of the lock module assembly.
