Wheel Bearing/Hub Replacement Front (FE7)

^ Tools Required
- J 28733-B Front/Rear Spindle Remover

Removal Procedure





1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the tire and wheel.
3. Insert a large, flat bladed tool (1) into the caliper and rotor to prevent the rotor from turning.
4. Remove the wheel drive shaft nut.
5. Remove the brake rotor.





6. Disconnect the front wheel speed sensor connector and unclip from the dust shield.





7. Remove the wheel bearing and hub retaining bolts





8. Using J 28733-B separate hub and bearing from the drive axle.
9. Remove the wheel bearing and hub.

Installation Procedure

Important:
^ Clean rust and foreign material from the knuckle mounting face, bore and chamfer to allow for proper seating of the bearing and knuckle.
^ Do not handle the wheel bearing and hub by the ABS sensor wire.





1. Install the dust shield, taking care not to damage the bearing outboard lip seal. Install the wheel bearing and hub to the drive axle.
2. Install the drive axle nut and draw hub and bearing onto the axle.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Install the wheel bearing hub and bearing bolts.
^ Tighten the wheel bearing and hub mounting bolts to 152 Nm (112 ft. lbs.).





4. Install the front wheel speed sensor connector and clip to the dust shield.
5. Install the brake rotor.





6. Insert a large, flat bladed tool (1) into the caliper and rotor to prevent the rotor from turning.
^ Tighten the wheel drive shaft nut to 215 Nm (159 ft. lbs.).
7. Install the tire and wheel.
8. Lower the vehicle.
