Disc Brake Hardware Replacement - Rear(J55)

Overhaul Procedure





1. Remove the brake caliper.
2. Remove the rear brake pads (2) from the brake caliper bracket (3).
3. Remove the rear brake pad retainers (1).
4. Remove the brake caliper bracket (3).





5. Mount the brake caliper bracket (1) in a vise.
6. Using a flat bladed tool or punch carefully tap the caliper pin bolt boots (2) from brake caliper bracket (1).
7. Carefully insert a small screw driver into the brake caliper bracket mounting bore and rotate and pull the bushing outward to remove.
8. Clean all parts in clean, denatured alcohol.
9. Dry with non-lubricated compressed air.
10. Inspect the brake caliper bracket for cracks. If cracked, replace bracket.
11. Inspect for worn or damaged threads.
12. Apply a thin coat of high temperature silicone lube to the bushing.
13. Install new bushings into bracket mounting bores.
14. Using the caliper pin bolt push the new bushings into the bottom of the brake caliper mounting bore.
15. Apply a thin coat of high temperature silicone lube to the new caliper pin bolt boots.
16. Install the brake caliper bracket.





17. Install the brake pad retainers (1) to the caliper bracket.
18. Install the brake pads (2) to the caliper bracket.
19. Install the brake caliper.
