Air Cleaner Housing: Service and Repair
AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENTREMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Loosen the air duct clamp at the throttle body.
2. Remove the duct from the throttle body.
3. Remove the powertrain control module (PCM) cover (3).
4. Disconnect the mass air flow/intake air temperature (MAF/IAT) sensor connector.
5. Remove the air intake resonator and duct.
6. Remove the PCM.
7. Remove the upper filler panel.
8. Remove the 3 screws securing the air cleaner assembly to the vehicle and remove the assembly.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
IMPORTANT: An improperly installed air cleaner or a distorted or missing intake air duct may cause a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) to set. Ensure that the air cleaner assembly and intake air duct is installed correctly and that there are no kinks or folds in the intake air duct. Debris in the air cleaner assembly or mass air flow (MAF) sensor inlet screen, that may distort air flow can set a DTC.
1. Install the air cleaner assembly into the vehicle and secure the air cleaner assembly with the 3 attaching screws.
2. Install the upper filler panel Filler Panel Replacement - Upper in Body and Accessories.
3. Install the PCM.
4. Install the air intake resonator and duct.
5. Reconnect the MAF/IAT sensor connector.
6. Install the PCM cover (3).
7. Install the air duct to the throttle body.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions. Vehicle Damage Warnings
Tighten
Tighten the clamp assembly to 3 N.m (27 lb in).
