Shift Control ReplacementRemoval Procedure
1. Remove the console trim plate.
2. Unsnap the shift cable terminal from the shifter pin.
3. Remove the shift cable bolt and cable from the shifter.
4. Disconnect the automatic transmission shift lock actuator wire harness connector, from the automatic transmission shift lock actuator solenoid.
5. Disengage the locking tab on the park lock cable and lift the cable out of the slot in the shifter.
6. Unhook the park lock cable from the park lock cam on the shifter.
7. Remove the shifter fasteners.
8. Spread the console side panels apart and remove the shifter assembly.
Installation Procedure
1. Spread the console side panels apart and install the shifter assembly.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
2. Install the shifter fasteners.
^ Tighten the shifter fasteners to 9 Nm (79 inch lbs.).
3. Insert the park lock cable into the park lock cam on the shifter.
4. Slide the park lock cable into the shifter and assure that the cable locking tab is fully engaged.
5. Connect the automatic transmission shift lock actuator wire harness connector.
6. Snap the shift cable terminal onto the shifter pin.
7. Fasten the shift cable to the shifter.
^ Tighten the shift cable bolt to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
8. Adjust the shift cable as follows.
8.1. Place the shifter into the N (neutral) position.
8.2. Loosen the shifter adjuster nut.
8.3. Tighten the adjuster nut.
^ Tighten the adjuster nut to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
9. Install the console trim plate.
