Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) Replacement Bank 2 Sensor 2

HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (HO2S) REPLACEMENT BANK 2 SENSOR 2

TOOLS REQUIRED
J 39194 Oxygen Sensor Wrench

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.




2. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor connector from the engine harness connector.

NOTE: Refer to Oxygen Sensor Notice in Service Precautions.

IMPORTANT: Removal of the oxygen sensor is easier when the engine temperature is above 48°C (120°F).




3. Remove the heated oxygen sensor using the J 39194.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

NOTE: Refer to Component Fastener Tightening Notice in Service Precautions.

IMPORTANT: A special anti-seize compound is used on the oxygen sensor threads. The new service sensors should have the compound already applied to the threads. Coat the threads of a reused sensor with anti-seize compound GM P/N 5613695 or the equivalent.




1. Install the heated oxygen sensor using the J 39194.

Tighten
Tighten the heated oxygen sensor to 40 N.m (30 lb ft).




2. Connect the heated oxygen sensor connector to the engine harness connector.
3. Lower the vehicle.
