Removal Procedure
1. Disconnect the propeller shaft coupler (1) from the transmission flange.
2. Push the front propeller shaft toward the rear of the vehicle in order to release the propeller shaft coupler (1) from the transmission flange.
3. Install J45012 to the drive flange.
4. Remove the drive flange nut using J29873 while holding the J45012.
5. Discard the drive flange nut.
6. Remove J45012 from the drive flange.
7. Remove the drive flange from the transmission output shaft using J45019.
8. Remove the output shaft seal using J23907 and J26941.
Installation Procedure
1. lubricate the rubber sealing lip and the outside diameter of the output shaft seal with DEXTRON-III
2. Install the output shaft seal using J45510.
3. Install the drive flange to the transmission output shaft.
4. Important: Use a new drive flange nut. Do NOT reuse the old nut.
Apply gasket maker GM P/N 1052942 (Canadian P/N 10953466) to the sealing flange surface of the nut.
5. Apply thread locker GM P/N 12345382 (Canadian P/N 10953489) to the threads of the nut.
6. Install J45012 to the drive flange.
7. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
Install the new drive flange nut. Tighten the drive flange nut using the J29873 while holding the J45012.
Tighten the drive flange nut to 100 Nm (74 ft. lbs.).
8. Remove J45012 from the drive flange.
9. Install the propeller shaft coupler (1) to the transmission flange.
10. Check the transmission fluid level.
11. Lower the vehicle.
