Condenser Replacement (MAE)

CONDENSER REPLACEMENT (MAE)

TOOLS REQUIRED
J 39400-Halogen Leak Detector

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Recover the refrigerant.
2. Remove the radiator support brackets.




3. Remove the upper condenser bolts.
4. Remove the air deflector.
5. Disconnect the hose from the power steering cooler.




6. Remove the discharge hose bolt (1).
7. Remove the discharge hose.
8. Remove and discard the O-ring seal.




9. Remove the condenser tube bolt (1).
10. Remove the condenser tube.
11. Remove and discard the O-ring seal.




12. Remove the lower condenser mounting bolts (1).
13. Remove the condenser.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Add refrigerant oil. Refer to Refrigerant System Capacities.
2. Install the condenser.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.




3. Install the lower condenser mounting bolts (1).

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 3.9 N.m (35 lb in).




4. Lubricate the O-ring with refrigerant oil before installing the hose.
5. Connect the condenser tube to the condenser.
6. Install the condenser tube bolt (1).

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 5.4 N.m (48 lb in).

7. Connect the power steering lines to hoses.
8. Lube the O-ring with refrigerant oil before installing hose.
9. Connect the discharge hose to the condenser.




10. Connect the discharge hose bolt (1) to the condenser.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 5.4 N.m (48 lb in).

11. Ensure that side seals are not damaged and in position around pipes.
12. Install the air deflector.




13. Install the upper condenser mounting bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 3.9 N.m (35 lb in).

14. Install the upper radiator supports.
15. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system.
16. Leak test all fittings of the repaired or reinstalled components using the J 39400-A.
