SIR DISABLING AND ENABLING ZONE 8
DISABLING PROCEDURE
1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicles wheels are pointing straight ahead.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
3. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
4. Remove the rear seat.
5. Locate the rear fuse center under rear seat, then remove the fuse center top cover.
6. Locate and remove the SIR fuse from the rear fuse center.
IMPORTANT: With the SIR fuse removed and the ignition switch in the ON position, the AIR BAG warning indicator illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.
7. Remove the rear seat back.
8. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) from the RR/passenger rear side impact module yellow connector (3).
9. Disconnect the RR side impact module yellow connector (3) from the vehicle harness yellow connector (2).
10. Remove both CPA (1) from the RF/passenger side impact module and seat belt pretensioner yellow connector (3) which is located under the passenger seat.
11. Disconnect the vehicle harness yellow connector (2) from the RF side impact module and pretensioner yellow connector (3).
12. Remove the right insulator panel.
13. Remove the CPA (4) from the vehicle harness yellow connector (2) located below I/P (3).
14. Disconnect the I/P module yellow connector (1) from the vehicle harness yellow connector (2).
15. Remove the left insulator panel.
16. Remove the CPA (1) from the steering wheel module coil yellow connector (4) located near the steering column (2).
17. Disconnect the steering wheel module coil yellow connector (4) from the vehicle yellow harness connector (3).
18. Remove both CPA (3) from the LF/driver side impact module and seat belt pretensioner yellow connector (1) which is located under the driver seat.
19. Disconnect the vehicle harness yellow connector (2) from the LF side impact module and pretensioner yellow connector (1).
20. Remove the CPA from the LR/driver rear side impact module yellow connector (2).
21. Disconnect the LR side impact module yellow connector (2) from the vehicle harness yellow connector (3).
ENABLING PROCEDURE
1. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
2. Connect the LR side impact module yellow connector (2) to the vehicle harness yellow connector (3).
3. Install the CPA to the RR side impact module yellow connector (3).
4. Connect the vehicle harness yellow connector (2) to the LF side impact module and pretensioner yellow connector (1).
5. Install both CPAs (3) to the LF side impact module and pretensioner yellow connector (1).
6. Connect the steering wheel module coil yellow connector (4) to the vehicle yellow harness connector (3).
7. Install the CPA (1) to the steering wheel module coil yellow connector (4).
8. Install the LH insulator panel.
9. Connect the I/P module yellow connector (1) to the vehicle harness yellow connector (2).
10. Install the CPA (4) to the vehicle harness yellow connector (2).
11. Install the right insulator panel.
12. Connect the vehicle harness yellow connector (2) to the RF side impact module and pretensioner yellow connector (3).
13. Install both CPAs (1) to the RF side impact module and pretensioner yellow connector (3).
14. Connect the RR side impact module yellow connector (3) to the vehicle harness yellow connector (2).
15. Install the CPA to the RR side impact module yellow connector (3).
16. Install the rear seat back.
17. Install the SIR fuse into the rear fuse center.
18. Install the rear fuse center cover.
19. Install the rear seat.
20. Use caution while reaching in and turn the ignition switch to the ON position.The AIR BAG indicator will flash then turn OFF.
21. Perform the Diagnostic System Check if the AIR BAG warning indicator does not operate as described. Refer to Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle in Vehicle DTC Information.
