Evaporator Hose Assembly Replacement



EVAPORATOR HOSE ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT

TOOLS REQUIRED
J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
2. Disconnect the snap clamp (2) retaining the evaporator hose (1) to the accumulator cover.




3. Remove the evaporator hose (2) from the hold down (1) on the frame rail.
4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the A/C low temperature sensor.
5. Remove the evaporator hose nut (1) from the evaporator.




6. Remove the evaporator hose (2) from the evaporator.
7. Remove the upper filler panel.
8. Remove the evaporator hose nut from the accumulator.
9. Remove the evaporator hose from the accumulator.




10. Remove the evaporator hose nut (1) from the condenser.
11. Remove the evaporator hose (3) from the condenser.
12. Remove the evaporator hose (3) from the vehicle.
13. Remove and discard the sealing washers from the evaporator hose (3).

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install new sealing washers to the evaporator hose.
2. Install the evaporator hose (3) to the condenser.
3. Install the evaporator hose nut (1) to the condenser.

Tighten the nut to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.




4. Install the evaporator hose (2) to the evaporator.
5. Install the evaporator hose nut (1) to the evaporator.

Tighten the nut to 24 N.m (18 lb ft).




6. Install the evaporator hose to the accumulator.
7. Install the evaporator hose nut to the accumulator.

Tighten the nut to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

8. Position the evaporator hose (1) on the accumulator cover and install the snap clamp (2).




9. Install the evaporator hose (2) to the frame rail hold down (1).
10. Connect the A/C low temperature sensor electrical connector.
11. Recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
12. Leak test the fittings using the J 39400-A.
13. Install the upper filler panel.
