Folding Top Storage Compartment Closeout Panel Position Switch Replacement - Front



FOLDING TOP STORAGE COMPARTMENT CLOSEOUT PANEL POSITION SWITCH REPLACEMENT - FRONT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Place the folding top in the up position.
2. Open the rear compartment.




3. Lower the rear compartment partition (1).
4. Place a protective covering over the interior and the adjacent body panels.
5. Locate the hydraulic pump beneath the carpet in the storage compartment on the driver side of the trunk.




6. Turn the bypass valve (1) counterclockwise until the valve stops.
7. Lower the closeout screen.




8. Locate the position switch (1).




9. Release the electrical connector (1) from the link.
10. Disconnect the position switch electrical connector (1).




11. Remove the position switch screw (1).
12. Remove the position switch (3) from the link (2).

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. The position switch service kit contains one position switch (2) and 3 electrical connector retainer clips (1). Find and install the retainer clip that matches the clip on the position switch that you are replacing.




2. Position the position switch (1) to the link (3). Align the D-shaped rotor into the D-shaped hole (4) in the link.
3. Rotate the position switch until the screw holes (2) are aligned.




4. Apply LOCTITE(TM) Blue, GM P/N 12345382 (Canadian P/N 10953489) or equivalent to the bolts.
5. Install the position switch screw (1).

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Tighten the screw to 3.5 N.m (31 lb in).




6. Connect the position switch electrical connector (1).
7. Clip the electrical connector to the link in the original location.
8. Install the closeout screen.




9. Turn the pump bypass valve (1) clockwise until the valve stops.
10. Remove the protective covering.




11. Raise the rear compartment partition (1).
12. Close the rear compartment.
13. Operate the folding top under power through one complete cycle in each direction.
14. Inspect the folding top for proper operation.
