BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Disconnect the battery negative cable (2) from the battery (3).
2. Disconnect the battery cable clips.
3. Remove the negative battery cable ground nut (4).
4. Remove the negative battery cable ground lead (1).




5. Remove the battery cable bolt (2) securing the negative battery cable and engine harness ground pack (3) to the right rear cylinder head.




6. Remove the negative battery cable.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Position the negative battery cable (1) to the right rear cylinder head as shown.
2. Install the negative battery cable terminal (1) and bolt (2) to the right rear cylinder head.

Tighten the negative battery cable bolt to 35 N.m (26 lb ft).

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

IMPORTANT: Ensure that the engine harness ground terminal (3) is positioned over the negative cable terminal (1) prior to bolt (2) installation.




3. Install the negative battery cable ground lead to the frame rail stud (5).
4. Install the negative battery cable ground nut (4).

Tighten the negative battery cable ground nut to 8 N.m (71 lb in).

5. Install the battery cable clips.
6. Connect the battery negative cable (2) to the battery.
