Bulletin No.: 06-08-45-003

Date: March 23, 2006

TECHNICAL

Subject:
Rear Blower Motor Inoperative (Install Terminal In Rear Fuse Block)

Models:
2006 Cadillac DTS

with Limousine Conversion Option (RPO V4U)

Condition

Some customers may comment on an inoperative rear blower motor.

Cause

This condition may be caused by a missing terminal for the RUN relay in the rear fuse block.

Correction

Technicians are to install a new terminal into the rear fuse block using the following procedure:

1. Remove the rear seat cushion. Refer to the Seat Cushion Replacement-Rear procedure in SI.

2. Remove the rear fuse block cover.

3. Remove the following components - at callouts 1 through 4 above - from the rear fuse block. It is not necessary to remove all the fuses from the rear fuse block. Refer to the label on the rear fuse block cover and the illustration above for help in locating the components. The tables in the Electrical Center Identification Views section of SI also have detailed information about the rear fuse block.

Important:
Note the location of relay R3. The terminal to be installed will be located under this relay.

4. Remove the gray fuse retainer by unlocking the four locking tabs and prying the retainer upward. Refer to the illustration for the location of the locking tabs.

5. Locate the cavity in the rear fuse block, in the R3 relay position, that is missing the Double Ended Terminal (DET). Refer to the illustration for the proper cavity.

6. Use a razor knife (Exacto type) to enlarge the cavity in the rear fuse block so that the DET can be installed from above. The illustration shows the enlarged cavity.

7. Before installing the DET, make sure that there are no plastic shavings covering the blade terminal that is already in the rear fuse block where the new DET will be installed.

8. Align the tabs on the DET with the grooves inside the enlarged rear fuse block cavity. The illustration shows the DET partially installed.

9. While inserting the DET, it will stop halfway down. Use a small pick to move the terminal locking tab aside which will allow the DET to fully seat. The illustration shows a pick being used to move the locking tab aside.

10. The DET will have a firm fit and must be inserted with care to ensure that the terminals are not bent. The illustration above shows how the DET will look when properly installed in the rear fuse block.

11. Install the gray fuse retainer. Realign the fuses as needed. Make sure all four locking tabs are secure.

12. Install all the components that were removed previously. Refer to the label on the rear fuse block cover and the illustration above.
