Suction Hose Replacement (LS2)

Tools Required

* J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector
* J 45689 A/C Quick Joint Tool

Removal Procedure

1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
2. Remove the cross vehicle brace.






Important: The body of the tool should be parallel to the A/C line.

3. Using J 45689 (1), disconnect the suction hose from the evaporator by pressing the probe end into the 2 small openings in the plastic quick joint.




4. Remove the suction hose retaining screw from the clamp.
5. Remove the air cleaner assembly.




6. Remove the retaining bolt from the compressor.




7. Using J 45689, separate the suction hose from the evaporator
8. Remove the discharge hose bolt from the compressor.
9. Remove the discharge hose from the compressor.
10. Remove the suction hose clamp bolt.
11. Remove the suction hose from the vehicle.
12. Remove and discard the O-ring seals.

Installation Procedure

1. Coat the new O-rings with refrigerant oil. Refer to O-Ring Replacement.
2. Install the suction hose.




3. Connect the suction hose to the evaporator.

Important: Squeeze the clamp together until you hear it engage.

4. Position the clamp (1) around the suction hose and engage.
5. Gently tug on the suction line to ensure that the clamp is engaged.




6. Position the liquid line into the bracket.






Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.

7. Install the screw into the bracket.

Tighten the screw to 1 N.m (9 lb in).

8. Install the suction hose clamp bolt.




9. Connect the suction hose to the compressor.
10. Install the retaining bolt to the compressor.

Tighten the bolt to 9.8 N.m (87 lb in).

11. Connect the discharge hose to the compressor.
12. Install the discharge hose to compressor bolt.

Tighten the bolt to 9.8 N.m (87 lb in).

13. Install the cross vehicle brace.
14. Install the air cleaner assembly.
15. Evacuate and recharge the refrigerant system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
16. Leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400-A.
