Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the closeout/insulator panel from under the dashboard on the drivers side.






Notice: Handle the electronic throttle control components carefully. Use cleanliness in order to prevent damage. Do not drop the electronic throttle control components. Do not roughly handle the electronic throttle control components. Do not immerse the electronic throttle control components in cleaning solvents of any type.

2. Disconnect the accelerator pedal position (APP) sensor electrical connector from the accelerator pedal module.
3. Remove the APP sensor mounting bolts.
4. Remove the APP sensor from the vehicle.
5. If necessary, remove the nuts from the APP sensor bracket and remove the bracket from the front of dash.

Installation Procedure




1. If previously removed, install the APP sensor bracket to the front of dash.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.

2. Install the APP sensor bracket mounting nuts.

Tighten the APP sensor bracket nuts to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

3. Position the APP sensor to the mounting bracket.
4. Install the APP sensor mounting bolts.

Tighten the APP sensor mounting bolts to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

5. Connect the APP sensor electrical connector.
6. Operate the accelerator pedal and observe the APP angles using a scan tool. The accelerator pedal should operate freely, without binding between closed throttle and wide open throttle.
7. Install the closeout/insulator panel.
