Oil Pressure Sensor: Service and Repair

Engine Oil Pressure Sensor and/or Switch Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Raise and support the vehicle.




2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the engine oil pressure switch.




3. Remove the engine oil pressure switch from the oil filter adapter using a snap-on S 6152 Oil Pressure Sender Switch Crowfoot Wrench(TM) (1 1/16") or equivalent.

Installation Procedure




1. Install a new O-ring on the oil pressure switch.





Notice: Refer to Component Fastener Tightening Notice.

2. Install the engine oil pressure switch to the oil filter adapter using a Snap-On(TM) S 6152 Oil Pressure Sender Switch Crowfoot Wrench (1 1/16") or equivalent.

Tighten the engine oil pressure switch to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).

3. Connect the electrical connector to the engine oil pressure switch.
4. Lower the vehicle.
5. Adjust the engine oil level to the full mark.
6. Inspect for oil leaks after engine start up.
