Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Bank 2 Sensor 2

Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Bank 2 Sensor 2

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Fuel and Evaporative Emission Hose/Pipe Connection Cleaning Caution (Service Precautions).

1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
2. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) electrical connector. Note the harness routing and retainers for reassembly.
3. Remove the HO2S (1).

Installation Procedure

Note: Use special anti-seize compound on the HO2S threads. The compound consists of graphite suspended in fluid and glass beads. The graphite burns away, but the glass beads remain, making the sensor easier to remove. New or service sensors already have the compound applied to the threads. If you remove an oxygen sensor and if for any reason you must reinstall the same oxygen sensor, apply the anti-seize compound to the threads before reinstallation.

1. Coat the threads of the HO2S with the anti-seize compound P/N 5613695, or the equivalent if necessary.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

2. Install the HO2S (1) and tighten to 41 Nm (30 lb ft).
3. Connect the HO2S electrical connector. Ensure that the harness is routed and retained as noted during disassembly.
4. Lower the vehicle.
