Rear Brake Backing Plate Replacement

Removal Procedure

Warning: Refer to Brake Dust Warning Brake Dust Warning.


1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.

2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation Service and Repair.

3. Remove the parking brake shoes. Refer to Parking Brake Shoe Replacement Service and Repair.

4. Remove the rear wheel bearing and hub assembly. Refer to Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement (FWD) Service and RepairRear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement (AWD) Service and Repair.




5. Remove the rear brake backing plate (1).

Installation Procedure




1. Install the rear brake backing plate (1).

2. Install the rear wheel bearing and hub assembly. Refer to Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement (FWD) Service and RepairRear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement (AWD) Service and Repair.

3. Install the parking brake shoes. Refer to Parking Brake Shoe Replacement Service and Repair.

4. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation Service and Repair.
