Alternator Belt - Thrown Off, Worn, Glazed, or Broken

Thrown off, broken, worn or glazed alternator belts may be the result of alternator pulley misalignment to the water pump and crankshaft pulleys.
If this condition is encountered, obtain and install the following parts:
^ P/N 14079285, spacer (replaces P/N 6262934 - 5.0L and 5.7L).
^ P/N 14079284, spacer (replaces P/N 3993312 - 3.8L).
^ P/N 14079250, belt (replaces P/N 9433639).
NOTICE: New parts available SOP 1984.
ILLUSTRATION 1 - REAR BRACE ALTERATION:
On those 1982 vehicles equipped with 70 amp alternators, the existing rear brace, P/N 14017795, must be removed, altered per illustration #1, and reinstalled. The existing belt, P/N 9433744, must also be reinstalled or replaced with a new belt of the same part number.
ILLUSTRATION 2 - TOP ALTERNATOR BRACKET ALTERATION:
If misalignment still exists, remove P/N 14034010, top alternator bracket, extend inlet manifold slot .08" (2 mm) toward front of vehicle and reinstall (see illustration #2).
Retighten all belts to specifications.
