Differential

1. Separate ring gear from differential case.

2. Remove pinion shaft lock bolt and pinion shaft. Then rotate gears and thrust washers out through opening in case.

3. If necessary, use tool Nos. J-22888 and J-22888-20 to remove differential side bearings. To install side bearings, use tool No. J-22919.

4. Clean and inspect all components and replace as necessary.

5. Install gears and thrust washers into case, then install pinion shaft and lock bolt. Torque pinion shaft lock bolt to 7 ft. lbs.

6. Install ring gear on differential case. Torque ring gear attaching bolts to 54 ft. lbs.
