Clutch Switch: Testing and Inspection

1. Check for voltage between relay terminals 2 and 3, with accelerator pedal released and transmission in either 3rd of 4th gear. If voltage is available at these terminals, the clutch switch is functioning properly.

2. Check for voltage at relay terminal 3 and no voltage at terminal 4 when clutch pedal is released. With clutch pedal released, if there is no voltage at terminal 3 or if voltage is low, clean or replace breaker points.

3. Check for voltage at terminal 4 and no voltage at terminal 3 when clutch pedal is depressed. With clutch pedal depressed, if there is no voltage at terminal 4, or if voltage to terminal 3 does not drop to zero, the relay coil is defective. Repair or replace relay.
