125 Auto Transaxle

1. Rotate transaxle so case cover side faces upward.

2. Remove valve body cover and gasket.





3. Remove throttle lever and bracket assembly with T.V. cable link, see image.

4. To remove control valve and pump:





a. Remove all pump screws except one shown in Figure. Loosen, but do not remove this screw, then remove the remaining valve body retaining screws.

b. Remove the control valve and pump assembly and place on bench with machined surface facing up.





5. Remove 1 check ball from spacer plate, then pull out oil pump drive shaft, see image.





6. Remove spacer plate, gaskets and the five (5) check balls located in the case cover, see image.

7. Check input shaft to case cover end play for proper selective snap ring size, as follows:

a. Rotate transaxle so right axle end faces upward.





b. Install adapter plug J-26958-10 into right axle end, see image.

c. Install output shaft loading tool and bracket tool, J-26958-11 and J26958.

d. Adjust tool to the correct load by turning knob until it bottoms.

e. Rotate transaxle so case cover side faces upward.





f. Install Tool J-28544 into input shaft bore and tighten by turning handle, see image.

g. Install dial indicator as shown in above image.

h. Press down on lifting tool, then zero dial indicator.

i. Pull up on the endplay tool and note reading. Endplay should be .10 to .84 mm (.004-.033 inch). The selective snap ring determining endplay is located on the input shaft. If endplay is not correct, select a snap ring from the input shaft selective snap ring chart. Measure snap ring thickness for positive identification.

j. Remove dial indicator, post and J28544.





8. Disconnect manual valve rod from manual valve, see image.





9. Remove the two (2) case cover screws from converter side of housing, see image.

10. Remove remaining case cover attaching bolts, then separate case as follows:

a. Install two 12 mm bolts 2 inches long into the dowel pin holes.

b. Alternately tighten bolts until bottomed. Bolts will self tap and separate case and cover. Use caution not to pry on case cover.

c. Place case cover on bench with 1-2 accumulator side facing upward.





11. Remove 1-2 accumulator spring, piston and center case to case cover gasket, see image.





12. Remove case cover to drive sprocket thrust washer and driven sprocket thrust bearing assembly, see image. Case cover to drive sprocket thrust washer may be on case cover.

13. Remove sprocket and link assembly, then support to sprocket thrust washers. Sprocket to support thrust washers may come off with sprockets.
