NOTE: Set idle with Air-Conditioning unit turned OFF (unless otherwise specified on engine label).

Diesel Engines - Start engine and allow it to warm up to operating temperature. Connect tachometer following manufacturer's instructions. Adjust screw on injection pump to obtain specified slow idle.

1.8L (111) engine - Apply vacuum to fast idle actuator. Loosen locknut and adjust knurled nut to specification.

5.7L (350) engine - Turn ignition off and then attach jumper wire across fast idle switch connector terminals. Turn ignition on and adjust idle solenoid (energized) to obtain specified fast idle.
