Front Cover Replace

Fig. 7 Fabricating crankcase front cover to oil pan seal:





1. Remove timing belt upper and lower front covers, crankshaft pulley, timing belt and crankshaft sprocket.
2. Remove three crankcase front cover to oil pan attaching bolts, then the crankcase cover to engine attaching bolts.
3. Remove crankcase front cover, cover gasket and front portion of oil pan gasket. To fabricate a replacement crankcase front cover to oil pan gasket, position crankcase cover over a new oil pan gasket as shown in Fig. 7. When installing gasket apply sealer to cut off portion of gasket.
4. Inspect crankshaft oil seal, replace if necessary.
5. Install crankcase front cover using alignment tool J-26434 or equivalent. Failure to use above mentioned tool may result in subsequent oil leakage.
