Subject: 2.8L V6 ENGINE SERVICE PARTS IDENTIFICATION
Model and Year: 1985 CELEBRITY AND CITATION PASSENGER AND 1985 "S/T" LIGHT DUTY TRUCKS
TO: ALL CHEVROLET DEALERS
This bulletin is to identify the engines used and establish service parts usage for certain 1985 vehicles.
Two (2) designs are used for 1985 production and are referred to as "carryover design" and "new design".
The carryover design uses crankshaft and block service parts unchanged from the design used in 1984. The new design incorporates larger crankshaft main bearings and a new rear main crankshaft oil seal.
The engine used in a vehicle can be determined by the engine date code stamp and must be established before ordering service parts. The date code and associated service parts are shown in the attached table.
