4L60 (700-R4) Automatic Transmission

1. Check and correct fluid level.

2. Road test vehicle.

3. If vehicle performance indicates that an engine tune up is necessary, it should be performed before road testing is completed or transmission correction attempted.

4. Check throttle valve cable adjustment.

5. Check and correct vacuum lines and fittings.

6. Check and correct manual linkage.

7. Install oil pressure gauge, check pressures, and isolate unit or circuit involved in malfunction.

^ To check minimum T.V. line pressure: set T.V. cable to specification, apply brakes, and take line pressure readings in ranges and at engine RPM's indicated in chart.

^ To check full T.V. line pressure: tie or hold T.V. cable to full extent of its travel, apply brakes, and take line pressure readings in ranges and at engine RPM's indicated in chart.
