Timing Cover: Service and Repair


1986---87
Removal
1. Remove fan belt and crankshaft pulley.
2. Raise and support vehicle.
3. Remove torsional damper attaching bolt, then the torsional damper, using a suitable tool.
4. Remove water pump, refer to ``Water Pump, Replace'' procedure.
5. Remove oil pan, refer to ``Oil Pan, Replace'' procedure.
6. Remove front cover attaching bolts, then the front cover and gasket. Discard gasket.

Installation
1. Install front cover gasket, then the front cover and cover attaching bolts. Torque bolts to 100 inch lbs.
2. Install oil pan, water pump and torsional damper.
