TO: ALL CHEVROLET DEALERS
Some 1987 Beretta/Corsica models with automatic transmissions and consoles may experience a jammed shift indicator assembly. This condition may prevent movement of the shift indicator and may be created by a damaged shift lever closeout tape.
To repair, replace the PRNDL assembly with a new one, P/N 10082185.
1. Remove ash tray/storage compartment, trim plate and old shift indicator.
2. Install new shift indicator, P/N 10082185 on trim plate.
3. With shift indicator in "Install" position (See Illustration) reinstall all previously removed parts.
4. Shift indicator will automatically adjust to desired position when shift lever is moved to "Park" in a normal manner.
NOTICE: IMPROPER SHIFT CABLE ADJUSTMENT WILL RESULT IN LESS THAN OPTIMUM SHIFT INDICATOR ADJUSTMENT. FOR ON CAR SERVICE OF SHIFT CONTROL CABLE, REFER TO SECTION 7A1 OF THE SERVICE MANUAL.
