Air Flow Meter/Sensor: Description and Operation

The air flow meter unit consists of an air flow meter and an intake air temperature sensor. The air flow meter is used to measure the intake air volume. The measuring plate of the air flow opens in proportion to the intake air volume, and this information is supplied to the ECM through the potentiometer of the air flow meter as a form of electric signal to determine the air volume. Air volume is corrected for air temperature which is monitored by the intake air temperature sensor. The damping chamber of the air flow meter prevents the measuring plate from making unstable movements caused by pulsation of the intake air.
