Test C

C: PROGRAMMER CLIP TEST

1. Find the rear tire radius by measuring the distance in inches from the center of either rear tire to the ground. This number is R.
2. Find the axle ratio. This number is A.
3. Calculate the vehicle pulses per mile using the illustrated formula.

Vehicle Pulses Per Mile Formula:

The number of pulses per mile is P.

Vehicle Divide Ratio Formula:

4. Using the illustrated formula, calculate the correct divide ratio.

Table 1 (1 Of 2):

Table 1 (2 Of 2):

5. Find your divide ratio on Table 1. If the exact number is not there, use the next larger number. The code to the left of the divide ratio is the correct code that will be used in step 8. If the speedometer has never been recalibrated (Programming Clip not present), go to step 6. Otherwise go to step 7.
6. Remove the Instrument Cluster and connect the connector from the Speedometer Calibration Service Unit part number 25085515 to the Instrument Cluster. Momentarily touch the wires from the connector across the vehicle battery terminals. Remove the connector and go the step 8.
7. Using the code from step 5, check the pin configuration of the present Programming Clip. Starting at pin 7, write down a 0 or 1 depending on the condition of the pin. A 0 means the pin is present on the clip. A 1 means the pin is not present at that location on the clip. Continue towards the rectangular end writing down the corresponding number to the right of the previous number. When finished, you should have a seven digit code of 0's and 1's. If the code matches the code from step 5, replace the Instrument Cluster. If the code does not match, go to step 8.
8. According to the code from step 5, remove the corresponding pins of a new Program- 'fling Clip part number 25084374. A 0 in the code means that the pin stays. A 1 in the code means that the pin is removed. With the rectangular end up, install the new Programming Clip on the back of the cluster.
