This bulletin covers New Fiber Plates which have a smooth surface that will reduce the potential for a 2-3 Slip, 2-3 Flare and/or Delayed 2-3 Upshifts during Light Throttle acceleration.
Fiber plates for the Direct Clutch Assembly with the new smooth surface went into production February 27, 1989 (Julian Date 058) for all THM 125/125C/HYDRA-MATIC 3T40 transaxles.
This bulletin only pertains to THM 125C/HYDRA-MATIC 3T40 transaxles equipped with grooved fiber plates in the Direct Clutch Assembly, built before February 27, 1989 (Julian Date 058).
To service any THM 125/125C/HYDRA-MATIC 3T40 for this condition replace the grooved (existing) fiber plates with the new smooth surface fiber plates. Grooved fiber plates are optional in the Direct Clutch Assembly for the above model years.
